White Volcanic Ash @ Bandung

Kawah Putih, that is how it is known in Indonesia. The theater of action is in Bandung, where an old time silenced volcano still steams out white smoke and there is a sheet spread of sulfur across a mountain of ash.

The place is around 1 hour drive out of Bandung into the small hills of lembang. There you park the car in Ciater and descend down to capture the volcanic ash and its exploits. The descend is a trek by itself and needs good mountaineering skills. The return has a secret road which exits to the main road via a short cut and hence on avoids the climb up of 3 kms.

The overall experience is full of joy. The last stop has a drinks stand and eggs for boiling in the hot spring gushing out of some oasis . The picture spots are perfect and is worth the effort of exploring it one day. No need of guides etc as the way is simple to follow .
